Jeong Eun Cheon

Ph.D. Candidate | Researcher in Social Psychology

I am Jeong Eun Cheon, a researcher in social psychology and a Ph.D. candidate at Yonsei University, South Korea. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Emory University in Atlanta, USA, followed by a Master’s degree in psychology from Yonsei University.

My research interests center on how individuals perceive the world and themselves, and how these perceptions influence their connections with others. Specifically, my primary focus is on interpersonal relationships, with an emphasis on intimate and romantic relationships. I am particularly interested in understanding how various factors, such as personality traits, cognitive processes, motivations, perceptions, and environmental influences, shape relationship dynamics and satisfaction.

While my academic pursuits are deeply rooted in theoretical, my passion also lies in translating these insights into practical impact. I am deeply inspired by real-life narratives of how individuals navigate their relationships and perceive their world. This passion has driven me to engage in hands-on counseling practice as a trainee at Yonsei University’s counseling center, where I have gained invaluable experience working with individuals.

Through my research and counseling practice, I aim to bridge the gap between academic theory and practical application, contributing to the well-being of individuals and couples alike. I am committed to contributing meaningfully to the well-being of individuals and couples by advancing research that is both impactful and actionable, while providing practical support to help people better understand and enrich their relationships.
